Mark Your Territory at Sea

As I wrote in an earlier blog entry, my dear one always, but always, has a problem remembering his stateroom (cabin) number when we cruise. At one point, he had developed a nasty little habit of writing down the number - on his hand! (Men- what can I say?) I told you my solution was to put an attractive magnet or even a custom cruise magnet on our cabin door as a marker for him. We've done this on a number of occasions now, and it works like a charm!

I'm guessing he might not be the only one with that problem. And it will only get worse, as cruise ships get bigger and bigger... and the hallways with their rows of identical cabin doors stretch farther and farther.

So, I thought . . . Wouldn't it be a great idea to have magnets designed specifically as markers for cabin doors? Yep. So, Stateroom Door Markers became my latest design project. The first designs have now been added to my collection of cruise themed buttons, badges, and magnets in my design gallery at CruiseReady on Zazzle.

Now, of course, you could use any magnet to mark your cabin door... and there are lots of cruise themed magnets to choose from in my gallery - both fun magnets, and customizable cruise magnets that (like the cruise name badges) you can personalize with your own cruise information. But, now, there are cruise cabin door markers, too. Some are very generic, like the This is OUR DOOR one, while there are others you can personalize with your name or names. There's even a special one for honeymooners.

Maybe there's one there that just needs to go on your stateroom door for your next cruise. Look and see! And, please, feel free to leave a comment - either here, or at CruiseReady on Zazzle.

Good Morning, Alex

As of 5 am, we have the first named storm of the 2010 Atlantic Basin Hurricane Season.

Tropical Storm Alex is storming through the Western Caribbean on his way to the Yucatan Peninsula, where he is expected to arrive tomorrow. A Hurricane Hunter aircraft is enroute to the system now, and everyone is hoping they WON'T find a strengthing system, but those hopes will likely be dashed, given the conditions in the vacinity...

AHOY THERE, ALEX!
How about playing nice with those favorite cruise ports of mine whilel you'rein the area. Those folks don't need any of your grief. But, even more importantly, keep it down, will ya! Easy on the intensification... especially after you get across the Yucatan and into the GoM. We surely don't need you messing with that oil.
So, please play nice, and play out, won't you?
Just thought it wouldn't hurt to ask nicely...

This plea brought to you by the word AHOY

Some Ideas for Father's Day Gifts

If your father is osmeone who loves to cruise, you'll find several interesting things to choose from for him at CruiseReady on Zazzle Here are a few of them:

First, how about a embroidered with an "Official Cruiser" polo shirt, complete with a little embroidered cruise ship, and personalized with his name? Shown here in white, it also comes in red or blue.
Or, you can choose from other styles of shirts, inclding t shirts, long sleeves, or hooies and jackets in various colors.

Matching embriodered caps are also available.

Well, now, WOULD HE RATHER BE CRUISING?

Here's something a little different for the cruising Dad (or GrandDad) who also happens to be a grillmaster. He'll love barbequeing in this "I'd Rather Be Cruising" apron. Available in long or short lengths.

For a really special 'combination' gift, you might consier pairing his apron with a matching kid's apron for the kiddo in his life who is his little barbeque helper.

Even if Dad's not much of a back yard chef, there are a number of other items in the "I'd Rather Be Cruising" design that he might enjoy, incuding t shirts, hats, bumber stickers, a mousepad, even a frosted mug for his iced tea or adult everage.

THEN, THERE ARE THOSE OF US WHO MUST WORK IN ORDER TO CRUISE

So, lastly, I should mention one of the most popular designs at Cruise Ready on Zazzle: "I cruise. . . therefore, I work." One of these magnets, or perhaps the matching mousepad or mug would be a gift with a sentiment that many can easily relate to.

As you search for the perfect gift for that important man in your life, please accept my invitation to browse through the selection, not only at Cruise Ready on Zazzle, but also at my other two Zazzle Galleries -TropiCards and WePeople- as well as at Cruise Ready Store, my on line store offering cruise gear, travel accessories, and cruise mementos.

Does your Mom Cruise?

With Mother's Day coming soon, many folks will be looking for someting special for Mama. If your mother loves to hop on a cruise ship and get away from time to time, think Cruise Gifts. Maybe you can't afford to give her a cruise, but how about a piece of cruise memorabilia from her favorite ship or cruise line?

Or, maybe she's going on a cruise soon? If so, how about a special shirt or hat with a nautical theme? Perhaps one of these, from CruiseReadyStore.com:

Or, for a personalized shirt, hat, bag, magnet, or other item.... there's still time to have one made up with her name on it at Cruise Ready on Zazzle. Here are some examples from there:

Have her name embroidered on this "Official Cruiser" shirt... shown here in a blue short sleeved polo, it's available in a variety of styles and colors. IDEA: A long sleeved pink tee and matching cap for cruising to Alaska.

If, like many, you find you must be cost-conscious this Mother's day, here's a budget tote for just $11.00 - and that includes personalization with her name!
(Other styles and designs also available)

Or - make her a personalized magnet with the name of her ship, itinerary and cruise dates on it. Available in more styles, with different ships, or caribbean and cruising themes. Magnets, buttons and name badges are $2.00 to $3.50 at Cruise Ready on Zazzle, with quantity discounts starting at just 10!

For even more ideas for Mom you are cordially invited to browse my little collection of Mother's Day Cards and matching gift items at TropiCards . . . some even suitable for (!) non-cruising moms.

We Sail Today!

Some persnal notes for today - Sailaway day! It's been SO long since we curised that I hardly know how to act, but today's the day!

We'll be on the Monarch of the Seas, with our good friends Sue and Dickie, and it will be three days of relaxing and catching up. Everything's ready. Bob and Marilyn are here to mind the house and Walker, and I've got my Bon Voyage to Me T shirt ready to wear.

Dickie informed me he brought his nautical tie clip - the one from my store with the cruise ship on it - but doesn't intend to dress up. Does THAT make sense??? Why bring it if you don't intend to wear it? We'll see. And Sue brought everything but the kitchen sink, as usual. The two of them are such fun. It's going to be great to cruise with them again.

They were really pleased with the way our little magnet door markers turned out. These come in handy for my guy, too, who can never remember his cabin number. Since all the doors on those long hallways look pretty much alike, I 'mark' ours for him with a pretty magnet. Here's a pic of the ones I did for this trip ... one for each of our two cabin doors. They'll be a nice little keepsake afterwards, too. This is just one of several designs available for personalization in my Zazzle Gallery. (There's buttons and shirts, hats, bags, and other things, too)

Well - time to get in gear... first, breakfast at our favorite pre-cruise spot - The Sunrise Diner. So, now IT BEGINS.
